This, despite the fact that they cut the cord on their working relationship with the royal family back in 2020. That’s one of the reasons why the couple has received so much backlash from their visit to the Big Apple. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Receive Backlash For NYC Photo-op
Harry and Meghan were in town for the Global Citizen Live event this weekend, where they talked about the importance of achieving global vaccine equity. But before the event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a photo op with New York City Bill de Blasio, his family, and New York State Governor Kathy Hochul during their visit at the One World Trade Center.
Of course, a lot of critics couldn’t help but wonder why the photo-op was such a big deal, seeing how Harry and Meghan are no longer considered full-time working royals.
Some comments on social media have included, “What was it for? A paycheck! What has it ever “been for” since the Harkles abdicated the British royal family?” along with, “If they do try a royal tour in London, they won’t be greeted with smiling welcoming people but would love to see them try.”
Another critic put it this way, “I do think now they should lose the Duke and Duchess title they are parading around Newyork like they are on a royal tour lol thats fine but why don’t.say here is Harry and Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor instead of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They are not on a royal tour they are show boating now is the time to take those titles away.”
