Wendy Williams was reportedly taken to the hospital this week for a mental health check.
According to online publication Page Six the NYPD responded to an early morning call on Tuesday when an ambulance was requested to transport a 57-year-old woman to Beth Israel Hospital for a psych evaluation. The address given to the emergency services was that of television host, Wendy Williams.

This mental health issue is a pile on for Williams who was also diagnosed with Covid-19 this week. Though Williams is said to be asymptomatic, the premiere for the new season of her daytime talk show has been pushed back from the originally slated September 20th to October 4th.
It was announced that the change was so Williams had time to isolate and test negative to the virus, however, it is unknown if the Covid diagnosis is assisting in covering for her mental health issues.
Staff on the Wendy Williams show is reportedly learning of the production setback from Instagram reports like the general public is, reading that Williams had been diagnosed with a “breakthrough case of COVID-19”. It was also said Williams would not be available to promote her show because of “ongoing health issues” that required “further evaluations.”
A source has told Page Six, “It has been a very difficult time for Wendy. She’s a single woman with very few friends. She lost her marriage, her mom, and is living alone. There is a lot on her plate.”
This is far from the first time Williams has had public health issues. On Halloween in 2017 Williams fainted on air while dressed as The Statue of Liberty. She later blamed it on low electrolytes and overheating in her costume while suffering a menopausal hot flash.
Williams has also been candid about her battle with Graves’ Disease and substance abuse, the latter of which saw her enter rehab and a sober-living facility in 2019.
We wish Wendy all the best.
