Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson was recently interviewed by Teen Vogue and the article went side by side with a glamorous photoshoot revealing how much Alana has changed and grown up before reality television junkie’s very eyes.
However, many still see Alana as Honey Boo Boo, the moniker given to her when she was a bubbly 6 year old appearing on TLC’s controversial reality series Toddlers and Tiaras.
It’s partly because of this that fans of the starlet are having such a difficult time knowing that Alana has a boyfriend …sorry, a manfriend– in college.

Alana has reportedly been dating 20 year old Dralin Carswell for the past six months. Alana did reveal in her Teen Vogue interview that she had a boyfriend…and no real other friends (☹ )but did not divulge his name. However, the two have been Facebook Official since March and have shared coupled up pics on their private accounts.
Now that the cat is out of the bag an insider close to the pair says “Dralin and Alana are attached at the hip and hang out together all the time.”
Not everyone seemed to be so excited for the teenager, with social media users citing the age difference as creepy and scary and bordering on illegal (however, they live in Georgia where the legal age of consent is 16). Fans have even implored Alana’s guardian, her 21 year old half-sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon to intervene on her teenaged sister’s behalf.
It has been reported however that The Shannon family approve of Dralin with the source adding .“He was quiet at first, but he’s like one of the family now. He’s just as fun and crazy as the rest of them.”
Other social media users point out that Alana’s sense of maturity is likely higher than that of an average 16 year after being brought up in the public eye and cared for by her sisters after their mother battled a meth addiction.
One area where Alana’s sisters will stand up for the baby of the family, is against the trolls who called her Teen Vogue shoot disgusting and called out Alana and the magazine for promoting unhealthy sizes.
The oldest of Alana’s sisters, 27 year old Anna Cardwell pointed out, “The modeling industry has gotten so much backlash for not having plus-sized models, now they’re doing diversity with all different types of people and cultures.” She then went on to praise her youngest sister, saying, “Alana actually stood up and did it, and hopefully she gives others the courage to do it. Basically, she is putting herself out there, and [for] all the teens who are overweight now, she has given them the encouragement.”
Alana, herself stood up to the social media trolls and haters when speaking with Teen Vogue about accepting herself for who she is and her new sense of love for her body. She pointed out the hypocrisy, saying, “I feel like my generation is probably making it worse. Everybody’s all about body positivity, body positivity, until they see a body they don’t like. I don’t understand why people think this way. Just because I got a little bit of extra meat on my bones, you want to hate me? I’ll never get body shaming.”
Now it seems Alana is dealing with age shaming of her boyfriend, too!
