Katie Thurston has revealed the importance of her engagement on The Bachelorette by claiming that things may not have lasted had Blake Moynes not proposed.

The season finale drew up many talking points, as Katie’s family were questioning Blake’s approach to marriage. While the couple refused to answer questions such as where Blake was living, the fact that they got engaged showed the world that they were serious. Anything less may have led to the relationship breaking down.
During an interview with Us Weekly, she said: “There was a moment where I didn’t think he was proposing — I was just happy to leave with him. I knew that was going to happen no matter what, [but] it’s hard to say the impact of that in the real world [if he didn’t propose].”
One of the reasons why Katie felt like this was due to the insecurities she had experienced on the show. Take, for example, Greg Grippo’s departure. Prior to his exit, Greg looked the most likely to win Katie over. And yet, after having left the show, there were huge question marks over whether Greg was really there to find love.
Instead, it was claimed that he merely wanted to increase his profile. Given that this was always a possibility, Katie was not going to settle for anything other than an engagement. She added: “You go through so much, and you want to take this very seriously, and a proposal and engagement is very serious. I didn’t come here to find a boyfriend. I can do that on a dating app.”
And after having gotten engaged, fans have inevitably started to ask when will the couple begin to have a family. Although nothing has been said in that regard, especially since they are still at the early stages of their relationship, it has been playing on Katie’s mind.
She continued: “The fact that we’re both committed to each other as future husband and wife, it just says a lot about our confidence in our relationship.” Time will tell how their relationship plays out, but given what we have seen so far, it does look very promising.
