Katie Thurston has opened up on how she was looking to find someone that she could spend the rest of her life with as part of her lead role on the current series of The Bachelorette.

The star is all too aware of what it takes to navigate yourself around the Bachelor franchise, given that she first appeared on Matt James’ season of the show. While that ended unsuccessfully, the experience taught her exactly what she was looking for in an ideal relationship. During an interview with Us Weekly, Katie said: “I just know where I’m at in life.
“It really shows how serious I am about falling in love and finding my person. And if the thought of being engaged scares you, then you’re not ready to be with me.” And speaking of getting engaged, Katie remained very coy on what her plans are going to be in that regard. Having said all that, she dismissed the fears of things potentially going wrong.
Instead, Katie has chosen to follow her instincts, and this advice has been instilled within her by Tayshia Adams. The latter has been through Katie’s journey and come out the other side with a successful relationship: case in point her relationship with Zac Clark. And that belief in things turning out well has kept Katie feeling positive.
She added: “I think it’s the biggest thing when you go through this — let go of control, surrender to the process and trust that everything works out the way it’s supposed to.” Just as Tayshia was on hand to make sure that Katie was okay, so was Kaitlyn Bristowe.
The latter has also been through her own relationship heartaches but has come out of the struggles in a much better position, as shown by her engagement to Jason Tartick. The duo could not be having a better time together, and there are already plans underway for an upcoming wedding.
And keeping your options open to find a partner is something that Kaitlyn passed down to Katie. She continued: “Kaitlyn said, ‘Don’t fall in love with one person on the first night, be open.” Time will tell whether Katie comes out with a successful relationship at the conclusion of the show.
