A Quiet Place Part II is smashing pandemic box office records this Memorial Day weekend, and writer/director John Krasinski surprised theater-goers while catching their reactions to his handy work.
41-year-old, multi-talented Krasinski’s visit to theaters in Los Angeles, Cleveland, New York, Miami, Houston and Austin was to welcome movie-lovers back to the cinema while generating buzz for the sequel that should have premiered more than a year earlier. It seems John’s strategy has worked!
The sequel to 2018’s hit A Quiet Place has already grossed almost as much as its predecessor, halfway through the long weekend.
John Krasinski Surprises Audiences as ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ Breaks Pandemic Box Office Records!
Grossing $48 million by Sunday, with a further $10 million in theater ticket sales expected by the wrap of the holiday weekend, A Quiet Place Part II has had the biggest premier in a post-pandemic world. Eerily prophetic seeing as the movie explores one family’s life in a post-apocalyptic world.
Already rave reviews have been posted about A Quiet Place Part II. The sequel continues to follow (what’s left of) the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe) as they face even more terrors of the outside world in their continual fight for silent survival.
Forced to venture beyond the soft sand pathways of their farm property, this time while toting a baby in a box, the survivors come to realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats to their lives.
With Evelyn’s (Blunt) foot still bandaged (the nail on the stairs was a big “nope” for me), it appears the movie picks up exactly where the last left off, the ultra-sensitive to sound monsters descending upon the Abbotts after hearing the screech of Regan’s (Simmonds) cochlear implant.
A Quiet Place Part II will be solely in theatres for 45 days before it becomes available to stream on Paramount +
