Kourtney Kardashian has revealed how she had to shut down her son Mason’s social media accounts after he decided to set them up behind her back.
‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’: Kourtney Kardashian Shut Down Her Son’s Social Media Accounts
The Kardashians are one of the most popular brands around the world, with the sisters having millions of followers on social media across all platforms. But now it seems, this desire to have a global audience has extended to their kids-much to everyone’s detriment. During an interview with Vogue Paris, Kourtney said: “Mason started some secret accounts during [the coronavirus] quarantine. Those were quickly shut down.”
This was totally justified in light of the following reasons: First of all, there is clearly a safeguarding issue involved when it comes to children being on social media. Given that they are often unaware of the implications involved in talking to various people online, it can get the children as well as the parents into trouble.
Not only that, Kourtney is currently facing huge scrutiny over her boyfriend, Travis Barker’s previous relationship with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. Therefore, it is only going to expose Kourtney to some potential embarrassment if her children were to post something negative. And Kourtney echoed those sentiments. She added: “What kids share today, it’s there forever.”
Despite Kourtney’s insistence on no social media accounts for her kids, the latter see it differently. They are fully aware of who their parents are and the influence they have on social media. After all, it is one thing to tell someone not to use social media, but another thing entirely when you are using it yourself.
That is why the kids have decided to resort to covert methods. She continued: “He started an Instagram, like, yesterday and didn’t ask us…and I just felt like he’s 10.” And yet, Mason has been left angered by the news. He had reportedly stated: “I went viral. I would’ve had 2.7 mil by now if I kept it up.” There is still plenty of time for Mason to build up his own following in the future.
If he can achieve half of what his parents have done, then it will turn out to be just fine. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
