Austin Forsyth has quietly gone about settling a real estate fraud case levelled against him as bigger Duggar legal woes dominate headlines.

The husband to Duggar off-spring No. 9., also known as Joy-Anna,  was sued back in 2019 for fraud and negligence when not getting the required permits for a septic system on one of the houses he flipped. The septic system began failing.

The buyers of the Arkansas property noticed “an unmistakable foul odor of human waste emanated from their yard” shortly after purchasing the property from Forsyth and further alleged the conditions were “constant and unbearable” and “unsanitary and downright disgusting.” The owners’ pet dog even got sick after drinking water from a yard puddle.

Upon investigation, it was discovered the wrong type of septic system was installed. Forsyth was able to do so as he did not obtain a certificate or permission from the county health department before installation, which the plaintiffs claim is law. They also claimed Forsyth guaranteed all work on the home was done with proper permits.

Forsyth responded to the lawsuit, claiming he was “not required to obtain a permit” and denied their fraud and negligence allegations.

The battle has gone back and forth in court with a new date set for this week. Forsyth seemingly dodged the newest court date by settling the lawsuit with the plaintiffs. The dollar value paid out is unknown at this time.

Forsyth isn’t the only Duggar who has had a real estate fraud charge against him.

Eldest child and bane of the (rapidly crumbling) squeaky clean Duggar image existence, Josh Duggar was in hot water long before his latest charges of possession of child pornography.

In April 2019 Duggar and his company was sued for illegally purchasing a five-acre property while the current owner was paying property taxes and even lived on the acres. The courts sided with the original, rightful owner.
