Jean Trebek has opened up about the pain she has been going through ever since the death of her husband, Alex Trebek.

Alex, who was best known for being the host of the hit TV show Jeopardy, sadly passed away at the back end of last year. Although fans continue to mourn his death, for Jean, it meant something much more. After all, they had been married for 30 years. And the pain of it all continues to live with her to this day. In an interview with NBC, she said: “I think right now, talking with you, I’m good. You know?

“I’m good. [But] I absolutely have moments of waves of grief that just come over me. I miss him a lot.” The latter years of Alex’s life involved a lot of struggle. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for a period of 2 years. Although he underwent numerous periods of chemotherapy, things were not helped by the onset of the pandemic.

Naturally, Alex’s health became in a much worse situation. But that did not take away his desire to continue fighting to overcome this illness. In a post to his fans at the time, Alex vowed to keep on believing. He remarked: “I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also.

“I plan to beat the low survival rates statistics for this disease.” One of the things that is keeping Jean going has been the reaction from the fans. Although Aaron Rodgers has taken over the show in the meantime, supporters around the world continue to remember Alex for being the OG. And that is something that Jean holds very close to her heart.

She added: “I think one of the beautiful things…was that he got to really see the outpouring of love and admiration that he gave to the world. And I know that that was in and of itself a huge inspiration for Alex.” Alex may no longer be with us, but his performances will continue to live on. And the fans will be there to make sure that Jean stays in a good place.
