Shawn Johnson East, who famously came on Dancing with the Stars, has revealed the sex of her new baby in what has been a big moment for her and her husband, Andrew East.

In a video posted on Youtube, Shawn told her fans how they were expecting a boy, much to the shock of everyone, including the couple themselves. She said: “I was so shocked. I truly thought it was a girl. I’ve even had dreams where we were a girl family.” That was not a disappointment, though. And why should it be? After all, the couple have had a great time of late.
Shawn gave birth to their daughter, Drew, a year ago. Given that she had a girl, the odds on another were pretty high— up until now of course. Shawn announced her pregnancy at the beginning of this year, and she could not contain her excitement. In a post to her fans on Instagram at the time, she said: “Here we go again. #babyeast. Two under 2. We are going to need ALL of the tips we can get, haha.”
But the decision to have another child did require some convincing. Shawn, for her part, wanted to take a break from having another child, with a bigger focus on herself. While that was understandable, she could not stop her maternal instinct as she quickly changed her tune and revealed she was ready for another child. In an interview given in 2020, Shawn stated how the couple were ready to expand their family.
She noted: “I feel like it was around the one-year mark, which was a month ago, that we finally were, like, OK, we feel like ourselves again. We’re ready to kind of go down that route. Yes, we’ve talked about it. We would love a baby anytime.”
And this time around, the couple are better prepared for the challenges that will come their way. They were hesitant to have another child due to the onset of the pandemic, but those issues have been ironed out, and the family can now look forward to better things.
