‘The Bachelor’ spoilers find that Matt James has opened up on how he has been feeling in the aftermath of his breakup with Rachael Kirkconnell.

In an interview on The Bill Simmons podcast, Matt was clearly hurting, but he laughed off the pain with some light-hearted comments. He said: “I’m wearing all my emotion on my beard right now. I’m good. I’m good right now.” Matt had been through a hard time given he ended the show by picking Rachel. Although he did not propose to her, the relationship became untenable in light of the news that had been coming out.
Matt, though, was unaware of it (for the most part), given that the show did not expose him to the furore that was going on. He added: “You don’t have your phone. You don’t have a computer. You’re completely tapped out of what’s going on, which really allows you to foster these relationships with women.” Despite the disappointment, there were some positive points that had emerged.
Matt had managed to heal his relationship with his father, which was fractured for a prolonged period of time. In addition, Matt also set a precedent by being the first black lead on The Bachelor, and his performance has paved the way for others to do the same. Case in point, Michelle Young. Although she and Matt had a difficult period towards the end of the show, she has now been confirmed as a lead on The Bachelorette.
With that, Matt had no regrets. He continued: “I can only speak for myself. It felt like three months of therapy. I met incredible women. I left in a relationship that I thought had the potential to go the distance. I don’t regret going on at all.”
So what does Matt have in store for the future? It seems he is going to take a well-earned rest and be the best that he can be. And he signed off the interview in keeping with that: “All I try to be is a good person at the end of the day.” It is good to see Matt feeling a lot better. And who knows, he might find his special someone.
