Thursday, May 16th La Reina del Sur spoilers have Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) learning some hard truths, a double cross coming from Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa), and a trip to Mexico. If you missed last night’s episode, catch up on the action in today’s La Reina del Sur recap.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Truth hurts
An officer Lopez is at the house Sofia was being held in when César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva) arrives. He informs Batman that Morgana (Norma Angélica) will be considered just another pedestrian who wasn’t paying attention to where they were going, and the case will be closed by tomorrow. That’s the good news.
The bad news is, Sofia is still nowhere to be found, and Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) is calling Francesco Belmondo ((Raoul Bova)) to check in. He and Batman have a brief moment of worry that Teresa knows all, but not quite yet. She tells Francesco she’s on her way to Mexico today. He offers whatever help he can give, then hangs up. Batman’s amused, because he detects a little attraction that will surely lead to castration when Teresa learns the truth.
Meanwhile, Sofia is still wandering the streets when she comes across a little boy named Simon. He’s a street kid that juggles for money, and Sofia’s in need. She asks if she can work with him, then impresses Simon with the skills she learned from being on the flag team in Italy. The pair spends most of the episode performing for cars, then asking for change. The haul allows them to eat, replaces the shoes Sofia lost while fleeing Francesco, and a little something extra.
Sofia’s asked him to take her to an internet café so she can google and see if all the stories la bruja told her (and the others she overheard) are true. She starts to cry when she finds out that it was all true. She tells Simon she needs to make a phone call.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Operation Conejo
While Sofia is working for food, Teresa is hard at work freeing her friend, Marcela “La Conejo” (Carmen Navarro) from the police surveillance she’s living under. Sheila (Cuca Escribano) creates a distraction by pretending her car is broken down. When Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco) and co. seem to get suspicious, Teresa places a call to Cayetana, who then calls Siso to say the Mexican’s at her house. He’s got to get there immediately.
Between all that and Sheila pointing out the suddenly fleeing vehicle to the police, they get the chance to sneak Marcela out and into the trunk of Sheila’s vehicle. Sheila pretends for those still around that it was just a loose wire and drives away.
Back at the safe house, Teresa catches up with La Conejo while also filling in Sheila and Ahmed (Abdelali el Aziz) on what had been going on. The Aljarafe sisters (Sara Vidorreta and Agata Herranz) and Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) join them for a group meeting. Teresa needs their help, but it’s going to be dangerous. She tells them she’ll understand any who choose not to join her in this plot. All her friends are in, but we have yet to learn if Rocío and Paloma will be part of it as well. Teresa has assured them they’re not in any way expected to help.
Later in the episode, we get a slightly tense moment on the place sent for them as their fake passports are checked. This time, they’re not forced to flee after extra scrutiny.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: New plan
Despite helping Teresa get away from los Pernas, she’s still not even close to being an ally. In fact, she’s likely using this to keep Teresa happy for now. Her real plan is to use the DNA test that Teresa left there to take Sofia away from her, since no court will allow a kid to stay with an ex-trafficker and murderer who is still wanted by Spanish authorities. She’s so going to die this season.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Sting time
Finally, we go back to the States for a bit to see the beginning of a trap that is being set for Sergio (Eduardo Pérez) to catch what else Manuela (Paola Núñez) is up to. Jonathon Peres (Tiago Correa) is still playing his role and convinces Sergio to let him come to the house. Jonathon plans to use this opportunity to search for evidence.
