‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that Lydia Plath finally told Mom, Kim Plath, about her crush. The thing is, she only told her about the crush in past tense, and assured her Mom that everything was done and over with and she had already talked to God about it and that she thought God was telling her that the boy of her dreams was not the one.
That’s a slightly different story than what she was telling Moriah, about how she was interested in this guy still and about how she thought he was interested in her and the whole texting Moriah to check in on Lydia. However, with Kim being like she is – can you really blame Lydia?
‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers: What constitutes as a past in Plathville?
I think Lydia knows that if she did start to express interest in dating, it would be the world’s biggest deal to her family. It wouldn’t be just a little crush that she could keep secret and maybe let a couple of her siblings in on or just Kim.
Even though Kim said that Lydia did not have to do things the way that she and Barry did things, which is refreshing, I think we all know the implication here is “…But it would be better if you did.” and Lydia is just erring on the side of caution.
In a way, I would be interested to see just what a traditional Plath courtship looked like, but I know that would be frustrating on whichever Plath child was involved, so maybe it’s best that we don’t see that.
The funny thing is, in this little confessional Kim expressed a bit more of a past than we thought she actually had! She said that at her wedding there were no less than four ex-boyfriends in attendance and she claimed that both she and Barry had pasts.
Now, we’re a little bit familiar with Kim’s past because she has admitted to being a bit of a party girl when she was in college. However, what I want to know is, what on earth did Barry do? Aside from dating the odd girl every now and again I really can’t see him getting up to much mischief, but then again I didn’t see Kim saying she had four ex-boyfriends either
(I would have guessed at maybe 2, max.) So I’m waiting on the day that he takes Isaac aside and confesses to his time in ‘nam or whatever – okay, kidding about the ‘nam part because Barry isn’t that old, but what exactly constitutes as a past in Plathville, seriously? Stay tuned!!!
