Demi Lovato might have had a turbulent year just like the rest of us, but it looks like she got at least one thing out of it: the singer and songwriter realized that she doesn’t need a man to find happiness in her life. At least, that is what she apparently alluded to in a new social media post.

As many fans know, Demi pulled the plug on her rather short engagement to her ex-fiance, former The Young and the Restless star Max Ehrich. The 28-year-old made a point to say on her Instagram account that she’s happy and content being single.

“The best part about being single is knowing that my happiness is coming from no other person than myself,” she wrote over a black background.

Back in October, the actor was spotted crying on a beach in Malibu after it was reported that he and Demi had ended their engagement. While there were some social media fans that offered Max support, others say that this looks nothing more than a PR stunt or better, one of the best performances of his life.

Max proposed to the singer after a whirlwind romance. But after one thing led to another, Demi realized that he wasn’t worth the hassle anymore. Max has been accused of sending ‘thirsty’ social media messages to Demi’s former best friend Selena Gomez along with pop starlets Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus.

However, Demi defended her fiancé at the time, claiming that the screenshotted messages were all fake. “It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other,” she wrote. “If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU.”
