‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers ask: Did anyone do a double-take when Kim was teaching her kids ballet? No? Just me? Apparently, Kim studied ballet in college and by her fourth year she was dancing on pointe in a local ballet company.
Keep in mind, this is the same Kim Plath who seemed vaguely horrified when Moriah proposed that she wanted to study dance in college just last year. So… pot, ketle, much, Kim? Now she’s teaching Lydia, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy all the basics of ballet.

You would think that since Kim and Barry are so strict, and in some religious circles, dancing is considered one of the many ways of the world that is wrong (even though there are entire verses in the bible about dancing… imagine that!), you would think that as conservative as Kim and Barry are that they would more readily embrace that ideaology instead of this particular stance on it.
But no, I guess since it’s classical ballet and has structure and discipline that they can’t really argue with it. Kim does say that she structures the whole thing like a real ballet class and that the girls don’t just get to run around and do what they want. Thing is, do these kids ever get to just run around and do what they want? I don’t think they would even know how to at this point.
She says that this is all part of a well-rounded education, and, you know, props to Mama Plath for trying new things, at least. Amber said that they had been practicing ballet for a month, and Mama Plath said that now that they had the new house that they had a space dedicated to ballet and working out.
I’ll just say that it’s good that she’s encouraging the kids to do some physical activity because sometimes when you’re homeschooled that can indeed fall by the wayside. It was funny when Isaac asked to join the dance class, hey Isaac, male ballerinas exist, buddy!
So he definitely could join if he wanted. However, I think that might make Kim’s traditional gender roles thing take a nose dive and that’s not what they do over there at Me and Pa Plath’s house. We’ll see how this goes. Stay tuned!!!
