After all the family drama surrounding Biniyam and Ariela Shibre’s relationship, these two finally got married in the temple in NJ. Now, they had already had one wedding back in Ethiopia that was a nod to Biniyam’s culture, along with a baptism for baby Aviel Shibre and that halfway seemed to satisfy Biniyam’s sisters.
(Except for the fact that Ariela wouldn’t just leave Aviel in Ethiopia with them and run back to the US.) But this time, Ariela got what she wanted by having her family and her culture involved in the wedding. There were nods to Ethiopian culture as well, like the curtain that she and Biniyam got married under, but it seems that Ariela didn’t want to invite Biniyam’s sisters at first.

However, she realized that it would make Biniyam really happy if she buried the hatchet and invited them… even though at the beginning of the season they threw wine in her face because she moved her entire family to New Jersey instead of staying in Ethiopia as originally planned.
Honestly, we can’t really blame Ariela for wanting to move back to New Jersey where she had medical insurance that would cover her child and where her own medical trauma didn’t take place. (We saw the c-section… we were terrified too.) While Ethiopian hospitals may get the job done, they seem to be lacking in certain areas, and being the daughter of a doctor and a nurse – Ariela’s going to notice that. Yike.
Also, it’s a different question altogether when your child gets sick. A good parent will move heaven and earth in order to get their child healed and Ariela did her own version of that when she moved little Aviel back to New Jersey and applied for the K1 Visa for Biniyam.
The thing is, while we’re sure that Biniyam was disappointed at first, he has been in the US before with his first wife, so it’s not like he was a stranger in a strange land, just strange to New Jersey itself. (He had originally lived in a different state with his first wife.)
A lot of people in the fandom weren’t big fans of Ariela’s wedding makeup, though. They wondered who told her she looked good like that. Baby Aviel was adorable, though… is all truly well that ends well though? Stay tuned!!!
