Andrei Castravet and Elizabeth Potthast have opened up on their relationship with Charlie Potthast.

Charlie is Elizabeth’s brother, and Andrei is his brother-in-law, but both have had a rocky relationship ever since Charlie decided to blast the couple, in particular Andrei. Things were made much worse, given it happened at the wedding reception as Charlie took over by using a microphone. And from that moment, Andrei and Charlie have remained distant.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Andrei confirmed that he and Charlie do not see eye to eye. He said: “At this moment of time, the relationship is nonexistent. He’s a drunk bum. That’s what it is. Like, bottom line, he loves alcohol too much.” Elizabeth was also not surprised by Charlie’s behaviour. Clearly, he has a tendency to behave in this manner.
Even Elizabeth’s father Chuck Potthast, who is not shy in criticising Andrei’s behaviour, also blasted Charlie. But as for Elizabeth, it was only a matter of time before Charlie rubbed up people the wrong way. She stated: “I know how he is. I know what kind of behaviour to expect from him.This is all new for him still. [He] hasn’t really experienced people like that in his life.
“So, that was definitely difficult.” So is there a prospect of everybody patching things up? Well, the family remain divided on how they see things playing out. Elizabeth has stressed that she has left the door open for Charlie to win over their trust once again, while Andrei does not see it in the same way. In fact, he cannot bear the sight of Charlie any longer.
He added: “I feel like it’s gotten worse. I don’t even want to be in the same proximity of him. … He’s just basically a big brat.” Andrei’s grievances are clearly understandable, but there is a feeling that he should forgive Charlie.
After all, Andrei and Chuck never had the best of relationships. And yet, Andrei does not mind turning to him when he needs financial assistance. He did, infamously, ask his father-in-law for $100,000. We will have to see how this will all play out.
