The late Queen Elizabeth had a close relationship with Kate Middleton. Despite Camilla’s initial disapproval of Kate, the Queen was impressed by her for her level-headed manner and her hard-working background.
Kate Middleton Will Be The First Queen With A University Degree
Princess Catherine is unlike any other royal who has ever been poised to become Queen. She is an ancestor of coal miners, and her mother was a flight attendant.
She will be the first truly commoner Queen and the first Queen to have a university degree. Kate also had a quiet dignity about her. Elizabeth respected her “keep calm and carry on” attitude. Kate mirrored the Queen herself.
Kate also took the monarch’s advice when she told her she needed a “proper job” before entering the monarchy.
The Queen shared her wisdom with Kate and helped her understand that the busier she was, the less personal drama she would attract. Kate took a keen interest in fashion, photography, and her mother’s party-planning business.
In a new documentary called Kate & the Queen: A Special Relationship, it is clear that the Princess of Wales and the Queen had a very touching bond.
Daily Mail editor Richard Kay explains,
“The Queen grew to trust Kate. I don’t think she ever really trusted anyone on first impression we’re all performing the same show, and the show is supporting the Queen.”
Royal expert Ingrid Seward added,
“I think the Queen saw her strength and saw she is a caring person who had this amazing affiliation to duty.”
Elizabeth made it a point to make sure that Kate felt appreciated. Princess Catherine developed a stronger relationship with the Queen after the birth of Prince William and Kate’s children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Queen Elizabeth Knew Kate Would Honor The Family’s Legacy
The Queen was thrilled to spend time with her grandchildren. Whenever she visited them, she would give them little gifts. George would call Elizabeth “gan-gan,” and she adored little Charlotte.
Queen Elizabeth understood how challenging it was for Kate to join the royal family. She was an outsider, and the Queen was sensitive to that fact.
Her Majesty “gently guided” Kate as she learned from her how to be a leader. It’s something that is seen in Kate’s personality now. She influenced Kate by giving her an example to follow.
When Meghan Markle claimed during her and Prince Harry’s March 2021 Oprah interview that Kate made her cry over Charlotte’s flower girl dress for her wedding to Harry and then later apologized.

A mantra that the Queen was so fond of. She responded to Meghan’s accusation with silence. Kate has never spoken out of turn about anyone, nor does she discuss what goes on behind the scenes.
The Queen also supported Kate when she first undertook royal engagements without William. While Kate was very nervous, the monarch knew she would not disappoint and would perform her duties with grace and a sense of compassion.
Toward the end of Queen Elizabeth’s life, she was firm and content in the notion that she could trust Kate with the family legacy and that she would do right by the Commonwealth.
