With Steve Burton announcing that he’s shot his last scene with ‘Days of Our Lives’ before the holidays, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are diving into the what if speculation pool.
The biggest one is whether or not he’ll return to ‘General Hospital’ after leaving during the show’s controversial vaccine mandate to reprise the role of Jason Morgan.
Jason is believed to be dead after being buried under a ton of rock, but searches were unable to locate him.
It’s no biggie as characters die all of the time in soaps, so the story can be that he found another tunnel and dug his way out like Sylvester Stallone in ‘First Blood’.
But assuming this happens and Jason returns to Port Charles after a year missing, there’s going to be some things for him to catch up on, and one of those is Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is with his twin Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) for the moment.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Carly really wants Jason
We say for the moment because it feels like Drew is a place holder of sorts, and in an interview with Steve and Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) on their Daily Drama Podcast, she hinted that Carly could be with Drew because he has Jason’s memories.
Laura was quick to point out no one’s said that to her, but it sounds like it’s her version of her character’s motives. So what does that mean?
Well, for ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers it means that Drew’s the second choice and when Jason comes back he’s a dead man walking in their relationship.
Which is kinda sad after he was willing to give up his daughter’s financial future to bail Carly out, went to prison for Carly, and goes to Carly first when he’s back while letting his daughter play the role of a red-headed stepchild.
Yeah, Drew’s lacking in a few areas, and how much he’s lacking will become evident when and if Jason returns.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – More possibilities
Of course, Jason’ return will open up more storyline possibilities with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) as Jason may not be too quick to get back in the saddle in Sonny’s organization or a relationship with Carly.
There will be an adjustment period and that could take a while to play out as he’s welcomed back but has some of his own issues to deal with.
But then Drew came back like he didn’t miss a beat, so it’s possible the writers will take the easy way out with Jason as well.
