Meghan Markle knew all about the royal family before she married Prince Harry, even though she claims she didn’t.
Two years before encountering Prince Harry, Meghan wrote a blog post on her internet site, “The Tig,” in which she shared her opinion about William and Kate’s wedding ceremony.
She explained that she would rather be a “royal rebel” than a “Cinderella,” which is evident in her attitude about Harry’s family.
For someone who claims she didn’t know it was customary to curtsy to the Queen of England, she knew enough to know she wanted to break the rules.
Meghan Markle has also asserted that growing up, she knew nothing about the royals. However, an old picture of Meghan holding a publication with the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover was discovered.
The 2014 tabloid displayed a headline about Kate falsely reporting that she was having twins. She was undoubtedly interested in the royals enough to read the magazine in the first place.
Meghan Contradicted Herself in Two Separate Interviews,
Meghan referred to William and Kate’s wedding as an example of a “childhood fantasy.”
“Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”
In a later interview, Meghan contradicts herself, saying that her “childhood dream” was to become a princess. However, she was always fanatic about strong female role models, like She-Ra, Princess of Power.
In Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” he claimed that Meghan went into meeting his family unprepared and that she “knew almost nothing about his relatives.”
He also said that she did not google his relatives or conduct any research about the family. In Harry and Meghan’s discussion with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan said she didn’t google anything about the royals.
However, later in that same interview, she talked about googling the words to the British National Anthem in the middle of the night because she didn’t know the words and was attending a church service with the family where they would sing it.
“That’s me late at night, googling how….what’s the national….I’ve got to learn this,” she explained. It has been pointed out on numerous occasions that entering the royal family is very serious and that Meghan didn’t seem to take it seriously.
Meghan Markle Lied When She Said She Knew Nothing About the Royals
A royal insider has said that Meghan’s comments about not knowing anything about the royals were a total lie.
There is a reason why Harry admitted he was overwhelmed by memories of his mother, the late Princess Diana, during his first date with Meghan.
Meghan discovered Princess Diana’s favorite perfume and wore it on their first date. She said that her favorite perfume is The Penhaligons Bluebell cologne, which was Diana’s favorite scent.
Meghan also claimed that she did not research her future husband, Harry, before meeting for their first date. Still, she admitted on their Netflix docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” that she followed Harry on Instagram before the date.
Meghan said it was the “best barometer” to see if he was someone she could see herself having a relationship with.
