The United States’ largest newspaper chain, Gannet, is looking for what they call a “Taylor Swift reporter” and a “Beyonce reporter.”

Due to both the superstars’ record-breaking tours, their popularity has soared even higher. The paper is looking for two reporters who can effectively portray the influence of their music and why it is so important to people.

The two chosen journalists will write for Gannet’s national paper. These writings will appear in USA Today and The Tennessean, the major daily newspaper in Nashville.

The Motivations for Each Singer Will Be Different

Beyonce Announces New Album After Six-Year Break

The motivations for the Taylor Swift writer will be different than the writer for Beyonce. The Taylor Swift writer will be expected to cover why her music is deeply rooted in pop culture.

Swift’s commercial power is unparalleled. Her songs, her performances, and the symbolism in her writing are pure magic. Consequently, she is a force to be reckoned with. The goal is to identify why her reach only seems to expand.

The person attempting to win the ultimate “Swiftie” fan’s dream job should be “an energetic writer, photographer, and social media pro.” They should be able to supply a steady stream of Swiftie content for the readers to enjoy.

The Beyonce writer will discuss how Beyonce’s influence spans different races and generations. Her effect on the R&B genre is impressive and remarkable.

Someone knowledgeable with text and video should fill the Beyoncé role and “must capture the record-breaking Grammy recipient’s impact on society.” Any die-hard Queen B lover would consider this job a dream come true.”

What the Position Entails at the Largest Newspaper Chain

Anyone interested in the job should have at least five years of newsroom experience and the ability to travel internationally. The pay range is $21.63 to $50.87 per hour.

The chief content officer of Gannet, Kristin Roberts, said that the USA Today network wants to deliver people the pertinent journalism they require to be informed, which “includes providing our audience with the content they crave.”

The incredible impact these two singers have on the American public is palpable. Each has left a growing musical legacy, which they have lived up to in spades.

The reporters acquiring these two jobs will have the enjoyable task of traveling internationally to concerts and writing about the tours.

They will follow every movement that the pop star makes and report it. It may be similar to writing for Rolling Stone magazine and creating an informative piece about the singer.

Controversy Over Hiring for the Job

There is a lot of controversy over the Taylor Swift and Beyonce jobs. Primarily, the issue lies in the idea that the position promotes “superfan behavior” instead of being a real journalism job.

People’s complaints include covering mainstream pop music instead of the local arts and entertainment. Therefore, many talented journalists have been laid off, including reporters, copy editors, photographers, and designers.

It may be unfair to eliminate these jobs in favor of hiring pop music reporters.

Many people think that this is what’s wrong with journalism today. Not enough attention is given to the real news, and it is often exchanged for candy-coated journalism that offers instant gratification.
