‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggests that the tension in the Abbott family may be getting to be too much for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). He seems to feel that he is being backed into a corner by recent events, so his reactions aren’t pleasing his family members. Is he falling apart?
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Difficulty with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)
When Y&R’s Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) told his wife, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) that he wanted a separation, it left the business situation no longer tenable.
Kyle and Summer were co-CEOs of Marchetti. Jack decided that it would be best for Summer to take over as the CEO. He wanted Kyle to move to a different division within Jabot.
Kyle was upset by this decision. He felt that he and Summer would be able to keep their personal and professional lives separate. He saw this as his father choosing Summer over him.
Jack did feel sympathy for Summer. Her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), landed her in this mess with Kyle. Now Phyllis is on the run and Summer has lost everything.
Kyle refused to take a position at Jabot because it would be a demotion. He feels irritated with his father. When Jack calls a family meeting, he deliberately doesn’t invite Kyle. Kyle ends up walking in the house, surprised that he was not invited. Jack says it is because he did not choose to stay at Jabot.
When Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland), Billy Abbot (Jason Thompson) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) protest, wanting Kyle to stay, Jack makes it clear he does not. Jack seems shaken by the confrontation with Kyle, but he also won’t be swayed.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Decision About Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson)
After Kyle storms out, Jack tells his siblings and his fiancé that he believes it is time to remove Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) from the board of Jabot. She has just announced via press release that she is starting her own company with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John).
There was no communication about this with her family. Jack is concerned Ashley will take her patents and her R&D to her new company.
No one agrees with Jack. They all say that Ashley should stay. Billy and Traci know that their father wanted all of the children to stay on the board. Diane disagrees because she thinks it is important to keep one’s enemies close.
Jack seems to be losing his grip and rational thinking with all that has been thrown at him. These come on the heels of his decision to promote Diane to Chief Talent Officer without consulting anyone. What do you think? Is Jack’s leadership failing?
