The judge in the Alex Murdaugh trial just made the announcement, Alex Murdaugh, an attorney who was thought to be a family man himself, was just found guilty of the murder of his wife and son, Maggie Murdaugh and Paul Murdaugh, that occurred on July 7th, 2021.
It’s been quite the case, with the defense trying their best to cast doubt in the minds of the jurors, but the thing is there was just too much evidence to the contrary. There was too much motive, and they determined that Alex could have been the only person at the scene who could have committed the crimes due to the timeline.
Still, they tried.
Sources say that even if he had managed to somehow beat the murder rap, he would hae gone down for 700 years in prison for financial crimes and trafficking drugs. SO even if he had managed to literally get away with murder, he still wouldn’t have been able to escape the long arm of the law.
GUILTY! Alex Murdaugh trial reaches verdict!
The thing is, there was a juror who fell asleep during closing arguments and that still didn’t affect the way the verdict was handed down. You would think that might affect things, but nope, not one bit. The verdict was completely unanimous, and it didn’t seem like when the judge talked to the jury that they had any doubt in their minds of who committed this crime, not one bit.
As for Murdaugh himself, the expression on his face said a lot while the verdict was being handed down. He looked almost as if he had been expecting this kind of verdict to be handed down. Did he look sad? Yes. Was there any tears being shed over his wife and son? No, there was not. Alex Murdaugh seemed to be able to keep his emotions under control.
But considering he wanted them out of the picture, this is to be expected. Did we honestly expect him to stand up there and cry for his lost family while the judge handed down this verdict? It looks like, for whatever reason, Alex Murdaugh is all cried out. At least until his actual sentencing hearing.
The judge did allude to what the sentence was for murder, but the actual sentence was not handed out today, just the verdict. It’ll be interesting to see what the judge thinks he deserves. Stay tuned!!!
