Paris Hilton disclosed that she terminated a pregnancy in her twenties while speaking about her backing of the current struggle for women’s reproductive autonomy.

Hilton had refrained from speaking about her own experience due to the stigma attached to it. In spite of this, the celebrity believes it is essential to voice her opinion in defense of bodily autonomy in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v Wade.
The ruling means that there is no federal right to an abortion that applies across the board, as each state will decide what it wants. And that is something that did not sit well with her. In her comments, she said: “I think it is important. There’s just so much politics around it and all that, but it’s a woman’s body.
“Why should there be a law based on that? It’s your body, your choice and I really believe in that.” Hilton also openly discussed the mistreatment she suffered while attending a boarding school during her teenage years, as well as two other supposed experiences of mistreatment that she endured when she was 15.
This was in relation to claims that she had been roofed and given a date-rape drug during her teenage years. But for all the trauma that she had been through, the social media response towards her Roe v Wade comments was damning.
This was on the grounds that people felt she should not be enforcing her views on others by immediately dismissing the other side. One person wrote: “Shameful the body inside her was not her body,” while another person stated: “She can afford birth control, so why didn’t she use it to avoid an abortion? Selfish elitist.”
