Kim Kardashian showed her approval of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s initiative to terminate capital punishment in his state.
Kim Kardashian Wants The Death Penalty Gone
On Thursday, 16th February 2023, the Governor asked state legislators to put an end to the death penalty in Pennsylvania, to which Kim responded by retweeting his social media post and adding three clapping emojis. Gov. Shapiro has declared that he will not permit any prisoners from Pennsylvania to be sentenced to death during his tenure.
This is significant in light of the following reasons. First of all, it has been more than two decades since an execution took place in Pennsylvania, but Governor Shapiro recently received an execution warrant and has now formally requested the State Assembly to annul capital punishment. Currently, 27 states in the US still administer the death penalty.
Secondly, Kim is well-known for advocating for those who have been sentenced to death in many states. After all, in 2020, Kim came to the defense of Julius Jones, a prisoner on death row in Oklahoma, and the next year, Jones was granted clemency, and his execution was exchanged for life incarceration.
Not only that, but Kim also took action in an attempt to prevent the execution of prisoner Rodney Reed in Texas by visiting him in prison in 2019. The execution was postponed. With that being said, the fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter.
A certain subset of people bashed the Kardashian on the basis that high-level crimes deserved the toughest possible punishment. One person wrote: “Let’s see those hand claps when a child is *aped and murdered.
“Every pedo who murders a child for their own gratification needs to face the death penalty! What a wonderful person Kim is! She’s the devil’s advocate.”
