Because he has backed out of an upcoming event he was scheduled to moderate, Don Lemon appears to be attempting to distance himself from the attention amid all the criticism directed at him. In honor of Black History Month, Don was slated to organize an event in NYC on Tuesday that would focus entirely on race and real estate.
Don quit his job shortly after receiving harsh criticism for his remarks about Nikki Haley last week that was sexist. According to sources, the event organizers at Douglas Elliman concurred with Don’s concern that his recent news coverage would overshadow the occasion. As a result, Don withdrew from the event. We’ve learned that Elliman’s John Gomes, a real estate broker, has taken his position; the event will proceed as planned.
Don Lemon OUT As Host For NYC Event After Comments About Nikki Haley
As you are aware, Don came under fire for classifying Nikki as being in her “prime” based on her age. Her comments were also repeated by cohost Poppy Harlow. Although he has since apologized for the remark, he was still not present on Monday’s “CNN This Morning,” and his absence was only briefly mentioned.
Lemon said, “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry. A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s, and maybe 40s.” “That’s not according to me” “Look it up. if you Google ‘when is a woman in her prime’ it’ll say 20s, 30s, and 40s.” Lemon continued to say, “Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime … and they need to be in their prime when they serve because she wouldn’t be in her prime according to… Google or whatever it is.”
What do you think? Should he remain a host for CNN or is this just another thorn in the side of the company? Let us know in the comments below.
