In his book, “Spare,” Prince Harry discloses the last words he uttered to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, when he came to her deathbed a few hours after her demise in September.
Prince Harry Reveals The Final Words He Said To Queen Elizabeth II
He says he quietly informed her that he “hoped she would be happy” and that she would be with his grandfather, Prince Philip, who had passed away a year before at the age of 99.
Harry also expresses that he said to her that he “admired her for having fulfilled her duties until the very end.” The Duke of Sussex goes on, writing that he stepped out of his passed grandmother’s chambers at Balmoral in Scotland and phoned Markle to inform her that he had arrived there safely.
Harry made an appearance at Balmoral soon after Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Reports at the time indicated that Harry found out about his grandmother’s passing from the media rather than from his relatives.
Harry and Markle were in Germany to promote the Invictus Games. Then they heard of the former monarch’s deteriorating health and hastened back to be with her. Sadly, he arrived too late and wasn’t able to say his last farewell to his grandmother.
Nevertheless, he was present for the mourning period for the Queen, with his wife. After her death, Harry and Markle met with Prince William and Kate Middleton for the first time since March of that same year to show their respect for the Queen in front of Windsor Castle.
The fans on social media were not too sympathetic towards Harry. A significant proportion of people were of the view that Harry had disrespected the former monarch’s legacy with the way he had been acting.
One person wrote: “And yet….everything he’s done in the last three years has only denigrated her life’s work and that which she felt was most important. If I was him, I’d be none too proud of receiving a Jacobite honour from RFK jr.”
