Despite the two counts of involuntary manslaughter that have been submitted, Alec Baldwin will still be playing the principal role in the movie “Rust”.
Outrage As Alec Baldwin Will Continue His Lead Role On Rust-‘WTF, Seriously’
Melina Spadone, lawyer for the Rust Movie Productions LLC, confirmed that the movie will be going ahead with Alec as the lead. Not only that, but director Joel Souza will also continue.
In 2021, Halyna Hutchins died on the set, and Souza was injured by a bullet when Baldwin was accidentally given live ammunition to use while rehearsing a scene. The actor has denied that he fired the gun responsible for Hutchins’ death.
Furthermore, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer in the film, has also been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. This is a major boost for Baldwin fans since the initial outlook looked bleak.
While he could still face up to 18 months in prison if convicted, his legal team may seek to use this to their advantage. After all, Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas did make it clear that there had been a miscarriage of justice.
In his comments at the time, Luke remarked: “Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun – or anywhere on the movie set. He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. We will fight these charges, and we will win.”
Nevertheless, the response on social media was far from enthusiastic. This was on the grounds that it did not come across well for Alec. Not only that, but people questioned whether the fan base would even want to go and see the movie anyway.
One person wrote: “WTF??? Seriously? They are beyond desperate to make this film,” while another person stated: “Jfc this is beyond ridiculous.” The fan base have made their voices heard which puts Alec in an even more difficult position.
