Prince William has returned to royal duties after taking a brief break to spend time with Kate Middleton and their kids amid the UK’s half-term school break. Here’s what you need to know.
On Tuesday, the Prince of Wales attended the 10th annual Tusk Conservation Awards. Per People, William has been involved with the charity since 2005, and in 2013, helped launch the awards to spotlight the work of conservation leaders and wildlife rangers in Africa. In recent months, William has spoken out about the topic following the murder of South African park ranger Anton Mzimba.
Prince William Is Back To Work After Taking A School Break With His Kids
This week saw the Prince of Wales attend the Royal African Society’s biennial film festival, Film Africa, in London, where 48 films from 16 countries were shown across seven venues. The event also included director Q&As, professional workshops, school screenings and Film Africa live music nights. William took over the patronage from Queen Elizabeth in 2016.
Earlier in the day, the Prince of Wales took part in a roundtable discussion on the development and acceleration of African-led conservation. “Today with @royafrisoc we met filmmakers and students highlighting world-leading creativity,” the royals said on their social media account following the very eventful day for the prince. This talented group aren’t just the creatives of today,” they said, “but the leaders of tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Prince William won’t be traveling to Qatar for the World Cup. Kensington Palace said Prince William, who is president of the Football Association, is unable to attend “due to the busy winter schedule” planned. The heir to the throne is due to travel to the United States at the end of November ahead of his Earthshot Prize.
Prince William officially became president of the FA in 2006 but it is not the first time he will have missed a World Cup – he did not travel to Brazil in 2014 or Russia in 2018. If England were to progress to the latter stages of the competition, the possibility of Prince William’s diary being revised to allow him to travel should not be ruled out entirely. The Prince and Princess of Wales are currently spending time with their children on half term but are due back on public engagements next week.
