Fans Blast Emma Corrin After Star Claims They Don’t Mind People Making Mistakes With Pronouns ‘As Long As They Try’

Emma switched from ‘she/her’ to ‘they/them’ pronouns in 2021 when they came out. And as part of that process, they want everyone to embrace things. In Emma’s comments to The Telegraph, they said: “I don’t mind if people get my pronouns wrong, that’s fine.

“Just try, and I’ll correct you where necessary and gradually we take steps forward. It’s not going to happen overnight.” Emma also discussed whether they had ever worried about the career-impacting effects of coming out as non-binary.

This was most notably seen when Emma stated that they wanted to see gender-neutral categories being introduced for major award ceremonies. Emma believes that the awards, as they currently exist, are not ‘inclusive enough’ and desires to see a change in order to make sure everyone is ‘acknowledged and represented.’

Emma believes that addressing the subject requires ‘an urgency.’ When addressing this issue, Emma remarked: “You can discuss awards and the representation there, but really the conversation needs to be about having more representation in the material itself, in the content that we are seeing for non-binary people.”

The fans on social media were outraged by Emma’s comments. This was on the basis that a certain subset of people felt the issue of tolerance was being exploited. After all, by making someone address another in a manner that they did not want to was hardly inclusive.

Meanwhile, others simply made derogatory remarks towards the star of ‘The Crown.’ One person wrote: “Mental disorders don’t have pronouns, she needs to see a therapist,” while another person stated: “I’m not going to try because they is plural and wrong.”

There is still a huge division when it comes to this issue, and that is not going to change anytime soon. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
