‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) Speaks On What He Loves About The Current Storylines

‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that playing Jack Abbott on Y&R wasn’t something Peter Bergman was particularly interested in. He laughed that after ten years as Cliff on All My Children, “I was dragged kicking and screaming to the best job anyone could ever have.”

Thankfully, he accepted the role and has been Jack for decades and we couldn’t imagine anyone else in the role that he has made his own. “My wife and I didn’t want to move to California, I didn’t want to do another soap, and I definitely didn’t want to replace another actor.” Bergman continued.

He worried that the Abbotts had lost their appeal and that Jack was alone in a mansion with no one by his side while portraying Jack on Y&R. However, Josh Griffith, the head writer and executive producer of CBS Daytime, called him after his eye surgery, which warmed his heart. “They said, ‘We want you to know this is going to be the year of rebuilding the Abbott family. When we get to our 50th anniversary, we want the show to once again be about three extended, multi-generational families in Genoa City.’”

Bergman is pleased with the changes being implemented. With the addition of Allie Nguyen and the return of Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), the Abbott family is feeling like a force on the canvas once more (Kelsey Wang). Fans have undoubtedly wanted more from Jack over the years, but after his mother died, he was left empty and alone, wandering the mansion like a ghost. However, with the arrival of Allie in Genoa City and his newfound role as a grandfather, he had discovered a new mission. We hope that things continue to go well for Jack because he still has a lot of time to make up for. It feels like the great Jack is back.
