After saying that the country should be “neutral” in the conflict with Russia, Elon Musk got into a Twitter argument with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, prompting one diplomat to tell him to “f*** off.” Following Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine eight months ago, the Tesla CEO made a number of statements in which he claimed he only desired “peace” between the nations.
He contends that the peace accord needs to acknowledge that Crimea, which Russia illegitimately annexed in 2014, is “formally a part of Russia.” Since Russian invaded and held a referendum, the US and other allies have recognized Crimea as being a part of Ukraine.
Elon Musk Told To ‘F–k Off’ While In Twitter Battle With Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky
The richest man in the world acknowledged that the referendum’s validity was “questionable,” but quickly fired back that it should be overseen by the UN or another “trusted entity.” The billionaire Musk has faced intense criticism online for saying that his “peace” agreement is “highly likely” to be the result and that it is “just a question of how many die before then.”
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Germany Andrij Melnyk slammed Musk, replying to him saying “F*** off is my very diplomatic reply to you.” Musk suggested that elections in annexed regions be held again under UN supervision in a poll he posted on Twitter asking other users for their opinions.
In response to the posts, President Volodymyr Zelensky created his own poll asking “Which Elon Musk do you like more? One who supports Ukraine or one who supports Russia.” One who supports Ukraine received the vast majority of the nearly one million responses. Musk stated to his followers that he thought nuclear war was “unlikely,” but “possible.”
President Zelensky stated last week that there was no way to attempt to have fruitful discussions with Vladimir Putin. He said: “Russia’s implementation of the so-called Crimean scenario and another attempt to annex Ukrainian territory will mean that there is nothing to talk about with this President of Russia”
