Rahul Ligma is NOT one of the Twitter employees whom Elon Musk, the new owner of the bird app, fired. Some media sites were only conned by two guys posing as fired employees.

Two men with cardboard boxes showed up outside the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco on Friday, alleging that Papa Elon had just fired them. Despite several warning signs, media jumped on what they thought was a significant scoop about Elon’s large purchase.

One of the jokers claimed to be named “Rahul Ligma,” which most people familiar with Twitter replies would know is a reference to an online meme, to reporters, including CNBC’s Deidre Bosa. Ligma sets up a joke for “Ligma Balls” for the uninitiated—we’re looking at you, Deirde. Lick. My. Balls. Friday headlines from Bloomberg and CNBC both stated that fired Twitter employees were departing corporate with boxes in hand.

Local TV news reporter Suzanne Phan of ABC7 Bay Area was another victim of the scam. She tweeted a video of the media scrum with Mr. Ligma, who falsely informed reporters that he had been fired during a Zoom meeting and had no idea where he would work next.

As Elon concluded the acquisition, there was a lot of talk about layoffs, but so far, the only people being let go from Twitter are some executives who will profit greatly from their exits. Don’t feel bad for Ligma, even though many actual Twitter employees apparently feel like they are in limbo.

This might be the funniest part of Elon taking over Twitter… watching people lose their minds and make things up. Still can’t believe the media fell for this.

What do you think? Will Elon run Twitter well and can you believe these people duped the media into believing their fake story? Let us know in the comments below.
