As TLC viewers watched last week in shock, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After took us to a place of anger and abuse. Fans of the show were revolted by the way Angela Deem treated her husband, Michael Ilesamni, and are still curious why this woman is still on the show.
’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After’ Spoilers: Happily Ever After – History of Violence
From the minute we saw Angela on 90 Day Fiancé, we knew that she had a few screws loose. Some blame it on that Southern “charm” and upbringing, while others have stated that they think she is racist and that she treats her husband this way because she has some feelings about his culture that she needs to get out and he is her target.
’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After’ Spoilers: Why Does TLC Let Angela Deem’s Abuse Continue?
When we look at the history of violence on the show, there have been a few arguments here and there between couples, but Angela takes the cake. For instance, do you all remember when she was obese and hadn’t had weight loss surgery? She was still jealous and argumentative. Some viewers are blaming this attitude on the fact that she looks better now, but it has always been there.
There have been many cast members on the show that had records of domestic violence and one that comes to mind is Geoffrey Paschel. He is now serving years for a domestic violence charge for abusing an ex-girlfriend. He was physically abusive to her and apparently kidnapped her. Angela was seen on camera, in front of millions of viewers, destroying Michael’s property and then physically assaulting him.
If she were a man, she would have been pulled off the show immediately, fired from TLC, and sent to prison, right? So why is it possible that she can get away with all of this? Why is TLC holding onto her like she is their golden child? Why does the network feel that she can do no wrong?
We would like to pose the question to TLC, when is it enough? Why has Angela been on this show for so long when her actions continue to shock viewers? This is not something that we can continue to watch just so they can get ratings. Fans of the show are pushing the network to fire her because this is uncalled for.
These scenes were very triggering to those who have been in domestic abuse relationships and it is clear that after watching this, the show will more than likely lose viewers. Why is a network that is so adamant about family and culture showing this woman beat up her husband?
There is nothing loving in that scenario and it needs to stop. Angela is an overgrown, aged bully who needs to be put in a room where she can no longer hurt anyone. If she wants to be shown respect, she has to earn it and from what we have seen, there is no way she ever will.
