This was allegedly in relation to Carrie’s views on the government’s policy towards the pandemic. And as part of that process, Carrie allegedly endorsed the notion that children should not have to wear masks in school. This was understandably a touchy topic, with certain people believing that freedom of choice should always prevail.
But when Carrie came out with her views after allegedly liking Matt’s tweet about masks, Billy decided to shade her instead.
In his comments, he said: “There was this thing where she, like, during the height of COVID, she showed support for a speech by some Republican guy [Matt Walsh] saying that kids shouldn’t have to wear masks in schools…[I then made] some jokes about it that went viral on Twitter.”
As a result, Billy ended up getting blocked by Carrie. This should not come as a surprise since the issue of masks and the pandemic in general has been a divisive issue. Therefore, perhaps it was not the best possible idea to make jokes about such sensitive topics.
But that did not stop Billy at all. He responded to Carrie at the time by sharing a screenshot showing she had blocked him with the following caption: “ICONIC.” And yet, rather than having any ill-will towards Carrie, he took it all in jest.
Billy’s following comments confirmed as much: “Carrie Underwood blocked me from Twitter, which I consider a great honor. It was one of the great thrills of my life.” As of now, there is nothing to suggest that Carrie will be unblocking Billy any time soon.
In fact, his comments have merely gone on to reinforce Carrie’s position in the first place. After all, despite some time having passed since then, Billy continues to see it all in a flippant manner. And that is not going to change.
