Just a few months ago, former 90 Day Fiancé cast member, Deavan Clegg made the announcement that not only is she expecting her third child, her son Taeyang, but has also been diagnosed with cancer. Fans of the show remember Deavan for her very rocky relationship with Jihoon Lee. She moved to South Korea to be with him and they ended up having Taeyang together.
Things didn’t work out so she moved back to Utah. Shortly after her split from Jihoon, she began to date Topher Park, who she is still with and they seem happier than ever. They are expecting a child together and with everything happening with Taeyang, she is trying to keep it together the best way that she can.
90 Day Fiancé: Taeyang’s Health
Deavan announced that her son had been diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and he had started chemotherapy. She set up a GoFundMe to help pay for his medical bills as well. Her family, friends, and fans have all been very supportive and she is doing her best to keep it together with everything happening in her world right now.
90 Day Fiancé: Deavan Clegg Updates Fans on Son’s Health Condition
She has continued to post updates about her son and the last one she shared was back in July. She decided that it was time to share more with fans and this past week, she made an announcement that was pretty saddening.
Her mother shared on the GoFundMe page, “Cancer, in particular childhood cancer, sets a somber tone of duality and brings focus on both the good and bad times. The good times of course are better now, but so too are the bad times. The good. I have recently started teaching Taeyang how to play soccer (for non-USA people: football).
He is doing really well and enjoys it. On days following his treatments at the hospital, I have to use a yoga ball. Sounds strange I know, but here is why. On treatment days Taeyang has a hard time walking, he can’t walk up a set of stairs, he can’t jump, and he says: “It’s not working” about his legs.”
She went on, “After treatment day, which is today, he wants to play, but he is not stable on his own feet and will often fall if he even attempts a quick walk. This is where the Yoga Ball comes in. When he is pushing it with his feet, laughing and feeling like a child again, a child without this horrible disease, if he falls, the Yoga Ball catches him and he gently rolls to the ground all the while laughing. Children with cancer deserve to laugh. All children deserve to laugh. Children with cancer deserve to play games, run outside, and enjoy what it means to be a child. All children deserve this.”
She continued, “And now for the bad. Taeyang is becoming aware of his treatments and today he did not want to go. He said, “No doctor, doctor causes Band-Aid.” It’s so hard, I see it in Deavan’s face, and I know other parents of children with cancer feel it. We wish there was no pain, we wish we could just wave a wand and make it all go away. We can’t, but we press on, and remember, tomorrow, tomorrow he will be able to play soccer again, and though clumsy and stumbling a lot, he will laugh and forget about the disease, at least until the next treatment day.”
Our thoughts go out to Deavan and Taeyang and we hope that the doctors can continue to help him and get him on the road to recovery.
