The $4.1M Alex Jones will lose as a result of his lies will go toward compensating the parents of children who died in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.
The verdict was in favor of the plaintiffs Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin, who initially sought $150 million in compensatory damages when the trial began. The jury rendered its verdict on Thursday in Austin, Texas. A different trial will be used to decide punitive damages.

Talk Show Host Alex Jones Must Pay $4.1 Million In Sandy Hook Damages To Parents
During one exchange that has since gone viral, an attorney for the parents revealed that Jones’ own legal team accidentally shared his text messages, catching Jones in an apparent lie. As we previously reported, Jones, who essentially claimed the mass shooting was a hoax, was cross-examined during the trial.
The judge criticizing Jones for a variety of offenses, including lying and even chewing gum, was another memorable moment. In closing statements, the family attorneys said “Speech is free, but lies you have to pay for.” This is something that apparently sat well with the jury as they decided that he should have to pay damages for what he said about the Sandy Hook parents and their children.
Alex Jones has been at the forefront of many conspiracies and controversies but this one may have been the biggest. While several things he has said over the years have turned out to be true, this is one where he was truly and horribly wrong.
What do you think? Is $4.1 million enough or do you believe that he should have had to pay more to the families? Let us know in the comments below.
