Jonah Hill has deleted his Instagram account amid his recent revelation in which he admitted suffering from anxiety.
Jonah Hill Deletes Instagram Following A 20-Year Battle With Anxiety
The star may be one of Hollywood’s seasoned actors, and yet, that did not prevent him from being very candid over his 20-year struggle with anxiety.
His social media would often depict the positive aspects of his life, including sharing his sister Beanie Feldstein’s accomplishment, but the negatives simply outweighed any benefit that he was getting.
With that being said, Jonah took the tough decision to walk away knowing that he would be disconnecting from his fans. In an interview with Deadline, he said: “I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events.”
Aside from not connecting with his fan base, Jonah will also not have the opportunity to promote his upcoming movies via social media. This is bound to have an impact on the promotional aspects, as the movies could end up being less popular due to the lack of exposure being received.
The last time that Jonah walked onto the red carpet was in 2021 for his film, “Don’t Look Up.” While that may be his final appearance for now, Jonah has no regrets over taking this decision which is ultimately being done for his health.
His following comments confirmed as much: “If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film. With this letter and with ‘Stutz,’ I’m hoping to make it more normal for people to talk and act on this stuff.”
The fans on social media praised Jonah for having the courage to walk away. And in the process of doing so, they understood the struggles that he will have had to endure by virtue of being in the public eye.
One person wrote: “Some people aren’t well suited for Instagram in that they can’t differentiate between these alleged problem free lives based on some overly filtered pics and reality…But kudos to Jonah if stepping away was necessary.”
