Depp VS Heard: Johnny Depp Directing His First Film In Over 2 Decades Following Amber Heard Trial Victory

Johnny Depp continues to roll in his “W’s” after winning his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. The star announced Monday that he will be directing a film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani and it will be co-produced by Al Pacino!

The saga of Mr. Modigliani’s life is one that I’m incredibly honored and truly humbled to bring to the screen,” Depp told the Hollywood Reporter. This will be Depp’s first time back in the director’s seat in 25 years. He last directed ‘The Brave’ in 1997 which starred himself and Marlon Brando.

The film is based on Dennis McIntyre’s 1980 play which follows the painter and sculptor in 1916 Paris during a 48-hour period where he could not sell his work. The film is set to begin during the Spring of 2023 in Europe. Many are wondering if Depp will have himself star or appear in the film and what person he may play.

While Depp is on the rebound from the trial that proved he lost tens of millions of dollars because of things that his ex-wife said, Heard doesn’t seem to be bouncing back both in her career and in the court of public opinion. It’s been an uphill battle for her from the start and it doesn’t look like she’ll be having a resurgence anytime in the near future.

Depp’s filmography was updated after his former talent agent testified in the defamation case that the actor had missed out on tens of millions of dollars’ worth of work because of Heard’s accusations of abuse during their nearly two-year marriage, which ended in 2017.

We’ll be on the lookout for his new film in the coming years! While it may not be a Pirates film or something that many people are familiar with, there is no doubt that they will flock to see this if anything, to support Johnny.
