Amber Heard is ditching a crucial member of her legal team and bringing in the big guns in order to change things up when it comes to her legal representation. The actress, who is currently appealing the Johnny Depp verdict, revealed on Monday that she had retained the legal services of Ballard Spahr as she entered an appellate court, as she felt the case and the evidence deserved to be reviewed by a new set of eyes.
While Heard is keeping Ben Rottenborn on the team with the addition of two new lawyers, she is getting rid of one Ms. Elaine Bredehoft, who was her embarrassing lead counsel during her defense against ex-husband Johnny Depp’s defamation claims.
Depp VS Hard Part 2: Amber Heard FIRES Elaine Bredehoft Following Catastrophic Loss To Johnny Depp, Hires New Legal Team For Appeal
Elaine claims that now is the ideal time to “pass the baton” and that she has taken all necessary precautions to ensure that the new team is knowledgeable. The general consensus seems to be that Elaine took a bit of a beating during her representation, metaphorically speaking, as she was constantly mocked and found herself failing horribly.
A representative for Heard says, “When it comes to protecting the fundamental right of Freedom of Speech, we look at the jury’s decision — to paraphrase a famous quote — not ‘as the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.’ A different court warrants different representation, particularly as so much new evidence is now coming to light.”
On the other side, Johnny Depp is rocking out and having a blast. He’s even directing his first film in over 2 decades in Europe! A film that will be co-produced by Al Pacino and follows the story of artist Amedeo Modigliani as he finds himself unable to sell his art.
As for Heard, it doesn’t look like she’ll be making a comeback anytime soon, and dropping Elaine is probably the best move at the moment.
