Irina Shayk has hit back at her critics after they claimed she was supporting the Russian military in the conflict with Ukraine.
Irina Shayk Bashes Critics Accusing Her Of Supporting Russian Invasion Against Ukraine With Her Potato Salad
The supermodel was born in Russia, irrespective of the fact that she does reside in the United States. And her loyalties were questioned when Irina decided to post a picture of a potato salad, which appeared very innocent at the time.
In the picture here, we can see that the salad has been mixed in a blue bowl. The post was captioned by the following comments: “Russianzz on Wednesday.” Nevertheless, that picture was criticised for the following reasons.
First of all, the reference to the letter ‘z’ has become symbolic of supporting the Russian military. Therefore, Irina’s haters accused her of perpetuating Russian support indirectly. Secondly, others argued that this was too much of a coincidence for it to be unintentional.
And yet, that is far away from what Irina had intended. The supermodel felt she had no choice but to respond and clear up any misconceptions that may have emerged. In response to the backlash, Irina downplayed any malice.
She stated: “Sometimes a salad is just a salad. I promise: no coded messages or political commentary here. Wishing everyone love.” Nevertheless, Irina has removed the social media post.
This could be explained on the grounds that she wanted to avoid creating any controversy, regardless of the fact that she has admitted her true intentions, which harbored no ill-will.
The fans on social media, though, were divided. A certain subset of people were of the view that this had been blown out of proportion. Meanwhile, others felt that Irina’s actions were intentional.
One person wrote: “She knew what she was doing,” while another person stated: “Some people, these days, are far too stupid to waste anymore time thinking about.”
