We’re not done yet. The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard looks to continue as Amber is appealing. Officially appealing the decision in her defamation case against Johnny Depp is Amber Heard.
Amber’s legal representatives submitted the required paperwork on Thursday in Fairfax County, Virginia, to appeal the $10.3 million judgment that a jury had ordered her to pay her ex-husband last month.
In addition, the jury determined that Johnny must pay Amber $2 million, making it official that she owes him $8.3 million in damages. However, Amber has vowed to appeal the decision ever since the verdict was announced.
Amber Heard Has Filed An Appeal Of The Johnny Depp Verdict
Johnny doesn’t seem concerned Amber’s followed through on appealing the verdict. He representative spoke to TMZ and told them that they will remain confident in their case. “The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand.”
The verdict doesn’t sit well with everyone though, even though most of the internet side with Johnny. For example, Amber doesn’t believe justice was served.
However, a spokesperson for Amber Heard also spoke to TMZ to say, “We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realize today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice.”
