TLC ‘Welcome To Plathville’ Spoilers: Micah Plath vs. Lydia Plath

Micah Plath had one of the best responses to a sibling’s break-up that we’ve seen. When sister Moriah Plath wouldn’t (or rather couldn’t) tell him the full story of what happened, he went to ex Max Kallschmidt and asked him straight up what was going on, and Max, amid a lot of tears, told him.

Apparently he ended up cheating on Moriah by kissing another, much older woman who was a friend of a friend and Moriah, needless to say, broke up with him because that is a boundary that definitely doesn’t need to be crossed.

Micah Plath vs. Lydia Plath

Kissing another person? Cheating. Micah made it clear that by hurting Moriah, he was hurt too and that it was not cool for Max to do that, we applaud his big brother stance and how supportive he was of Moriah while she was so upset.

Lydia Plath on the other hand…

You would have thought that Lydia, sweet Lydia, would be the one to really hate Max for doing Moriah wrong, but honestly… she seemed a bit gleeful at the thoughto of Moriah and Max no longer talking and wasted no time in asking Moriah if she could start talking to him and hanging out with him, and then brought religion into it! The nerve!

Of course, in the cult that Lydia was raised in, there’s the toxic  purity culture and the mindset that goes with it. In this mindset it’s never the man who is at fault for the cheating, it’s always the woman, the woman wasn’t doing enough to keep the man satisfied so he went out and found someone else. However, in Moriah and Lydia’s case, the mindset may be a bit different.

We’re not saying that Lydia actually thinks this, but since we know a bit about the psychology behind purity culture, here’s how Lydia’s reaction could be interpreted. In that particular cult, purity, chastity, and modesty are valued above all else.

Moriah, while she may have been pure as the driven snow in actuality, did not give off the impression that she was from the way she dressed, and someone with Lydia’s mindset would see that, even without knowing the details of why they broke up, and automatically blame Moriah for not being “modest” enough to be “taken seriously”.

Poor Moriah though, she was not expecting that, she expected her sister to have her back just like Micah did, but instead she kind of sold her out. For what exactly, we don’t know… and since when does Lydia have friends outside her siblings?

She started working at a bank recently, so, perhaps she made some work friends but would Kim and Barry really allow that? Also, Lydia and Max have been texting since he and Moriah broke up which is just really suspicious because allegedly, he did not mention anything to Lydia… interesting.

It’s clear to see who gets the award for best sibling reaction… do better, Lydia. Stay tuned!!!
