Pete Davidson is officially leaving ‘Saturday Night Live’ and said his goodbyes this weekend next to Colin Jost and Michael Che. While he joked and made light of a lot of things you could hear in his voice that he was very sad and the way he spoke of creator Lorne Michaels was very touching.
Davidson has always had an interesting sense of humor, and according to him, Lorne even thought he wasn’t exactly good for SNL, but took a chance on him anyway saying, “let’s screw this up together.”
You can watch Davidson’s goodbye below.
“Pete Davidson stops by Weekend Update to reflect on his eight years on SNL.”
Pete Davidson Says Goodbye To ‘Saturday Night Live’ (For Now)
Viewers reacted to the news saying, “Gonna miss Pete. He’s like America’s little brother to me. Kudos to Lorne for giving us the chance to love Pete unconditionally.”, “One of the funniest and classiest exits from SNL ever. Kudos to Lorne for giving Pete a shot. I think we all caught the feels at the end of this.” and “Nothing like a quick roast out the door. Priceless and you will be missed. Gl in your future endeavors.”
While SNL has been criticized over the years with a lot of viewers saying it lost a lot of the comedy, Davidson was without a doubt a bright spot in the show and his films have continued to show us how funny he can be. Now though, his life has been changing a lot and being with Kim Kardashian has shot him into an entirely new level of stardom.
We wish Pete the best and hope to see more films like ‘The King of Staten Island’, which is hilarious but also tackles serious feelings and emotions, and I feel this is where Pete fits perfectly.
