Comedian David Spade responded to a viral Burger King employee (Kevin Ford) who had been given a goodie bag in response to his 27 years worth of service to the franchise.Â
Comedian David Spade Donates $5,000 To Viral Burger King Employee-‘Keep Up The Good Work’
Kevin, for his part, sent the internet ablaze when he showed off the following measly goody bag he had received, despite not having missed work for 27 years. In the clip here, we can see that Kevin is holding a goodie bag. And given that he had given so much to the company, that did not go down very well.Â
But when Kevin’s daughter had set up a GoFundMe, so that he could visit his grandchildren in Texas, that is when things started to change massively. And in the process, it had gotten the attention of Dave. As a result, the comedian decided to donate $5,000 of his own money.
In the process, he sent Kevin a private DM to thank him for his hard work. In his comments, Dave said: “Keep up the good work, 27 years” to which Kevin replied: “Cannot believe this. Thank you so much for even watching the video. I love you my brother. Much love and God bless.”
And things have only gotten better since then. As of now, the fundraiser has raised around $39,000 dollars and counting. The target has been set at $50,000 dollars and given what we have seen so far, Kevin will be in a position to finally take some time off work.Â
While Kevin’s story has highlighted the need for employees to be rewarded, KFC has come out with a statement in response.
In a statement given on behalf of Burger King, a representative said: “This video depicts a Team Member in receipt of a peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience. The franchisee offers its Team Members a robust employee recognition program.”
It is good to see Kevin finally reaping the rewards. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
