Not all longtime Tana Mongeau fans will agree, but speaking as someone who has been around the Tana Mongeau social media sphere since around 2014, I think I can safely say that this podcast was probably the most useless thing that Tana Mongeau has ever done.
This could have easily been a series on her youtube channel, but I guess youtube wasn’t paying the money that spotify live was and the girl has bills to pay so there’s that. I mean, she does have to pay her assistants to wake her up and we know what a chore that can be. The thing is, she could have accomplished everything she did on this podcast on an instagram AMA but she wanted to invite her “toxic ex” Chris Miles on.
Gotta admit, I’m not here for Chris Miles.
I would’ve rather listened to a whole video of Tana screaming about being abducted by her uber driver, or listened to her and Imari trade old high school stories, but see that would have been the Cancelled Podcast which is something with actual production value.
This was just an excuse for Tana to bring on her ex boyfriend whom she can’t get enough of and chat with him for an hour about things. She can’t do that on the Cancelled Podcast because the rest of her co-hosts aren’t here for him either and don’t like him. Brooke Schofield (AKA Mindy) has made her dislike of him pretty clear but she also hates who Tana is when she’s with him.
And I must say I agree.
This podcast was a Q&A type thing and yes, you can write in and actually ask Tana questions which is kind of innovative for spotify (the host of the Call Her Daddy Podcast has a similarly veined live show) but there didn’t seem to be anything groundbreaking sbout this podcast, it was basically just Chris making Tana giggle for the entire duration.
We really didn’t sign on to watch her date Chris Miles, a name that most people are unfamiliar with anyway unless you actually surf soundcloud for music. (No judgement, some people do.) She did finally say how she actually met him though, she said that they met on a party bus years ago. Chris admitted that if he could go back to the day he met Tana, that while he wouldn’t “walk the other way” he would definitely “not indulge as hard as he did”. Ouch.
That says a lot for their relationship right there. Maybe the next episode will be more interesting, but this could have been a dedicated instagram or youtube Q&A… oh well.
