Say it isn’t so! Estelle Harris, the stage and screen veteran best known for her roles as Estelle Costanza in the sitcom Seinfeld and Mrs Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise, has died. She was 93. Here’s what you need to know.
Harris, whose distinctive voice was sought after in various roles, unforgettably played Estelle Costanza on the 90s sitcom, often bickering with her on-screen husband Jerry Stiller and her fictional son, Jason Alexander.
Seinfeld And Toy Story Star Estelle Harris Passes Away At Age 93
“It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on today, leaving a hole in my heart too deep to describe,” her son Glen Harris said in a statement provided by her agent Michael Eisenstadt. “Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”
Deadline reports that the character was called Estelle before Harris was cast – and the part showcased her masterful comic timing and unforgettable high-pitched voice to perfection. Harris is survived by a total of three children, as well as three grandsons and a great-grandson. Plans for a memorial have not been disclosed.
