For a moment there, we were starting to get very worried. Thankfully Queen Elizabeth looks to be on her feet again as she was spotted in person for the first time in more than a month while at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Queen Elizabeth arrived at the Royal Windsor Horse Show to watch her horses take to the parade ring, while driving her own car no less. The monarch has pulled out of a number of in-person events over recent months due to mobility problems. The queen appeared relaxed, smiling and laughing as she chatted, while just a few feet away dozens of photographers tried to capture the moment.
Queen Elizabeth Is Finally Doing Public Appearances Again
What’s more, the Queen was honored with a standing ovation as her Platinum Jubilee celebrations kicked off with a star-studded equestrian extravaganza featuring some of the world’s leading performers. The event was staged by the Royal Windsor Horse Show which has been welcoming spectators for the past three days including the monarch who spent part of her Friday touring the show grounds after earlier missing the State Opening of Parliament.
Earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth overcame a bout of Covid after testing positive that month, later revealing the virus had left her “very tired and exhausted.” If that weren’t enough, she was also unwell last October, and after spending a night in hospital she spent the following three months under doctors’ orders to only conduct light duties, meaning she missed a number of prominent events.
Just this past week her son Prince Charles stood in for the Queen at the state opening of Parliament. It was the first time the Queen has missed the event in nearly 60 years.
