This comment arrived on the back end of the reports that Kanye had allegedly been spreading a rumour that Pete had aids. While sources close to Kanye denied doing anything on the sort, Pete was advised to respond in kind.
During the course of his performance at the “Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival,” Pete opened up on how he could have started his very own rumour. He said: “You know what’s really funny about that? AIDS is such an old-school-like thing. ‘You have AIDS.’
“It’s just such a ’90s, early 2000s thing to like [come at me]. John Mulaney called me. He’s like, ‘AIDS? You should spread a rumor that he has polio!'” Thankfully, that did not end up happening. After all, imagine how Kanye would have reacted if Pete had done such a thing.
It would have given him plenty of ammunition to use against the comedian. Not only that, but this approach also fits in line with Pete’s tendency to avoid getting into public confrontation, which has already been shown by how he deals with Kanye’s outbursts by simply focusing on his life with Kim Kardashian.
Nevertheless, this did not stop fans from having their say on social media. A certain subset of people found the idea that this could have happened, as hilarious. Meanwhile, others were not so impressed given that Pete and John do not necessarily have the best track record themselves.
One person wrote: “A Drug ADDICT tells a CLOWN to spread rumors about the BIPOLAR one, you can’t make this up lol.” If any rumours do end up transpiring about Kanye, that turn out to be outlandish, then you can bet your bottom dollar that Pete’s name will be on the top of the list of suspects.
