We were all heartbroken to hear of the passing of Ray Liotta on Thursday at the age of 67. Co-stars and friends have been posting tributes to him, and one that stood out to us was Kevin Costner who co-starred with him in ‘Field of Dreams’ in 1989.
Liotta portrayed Shoeless Joe Jackson in the film that was nominated for three Oscars. Costner took to social media to share a clip of the two of them and posted a heartwarming tribute saying that now, “God has Ray.”
“Devastated to hear the news of Ray Liotta’s passing. While he leaves an incredible legacy, he’ll always be “Shoeless Joe Jackson” in my heart. What happened that moment in the film was real. God gave us that stunt. Now God has Ray.”

Kevin Costner Pays Tribute To Late ‘Field Of Dreams’ Co-Star Ray Liotta
Liotta’s character was a member of the 1919 Chicago White Sox who was banned from baseball after the team threw the World Series. However, despite the film’s success, in 2019, Liotta revealed that he had never actually seen it and avoided watching it for personal reasons. He said, “So, when I did go to see it, my mother was sick, and we couldn’t stay. I just, I’ve never seen it.”
Fans reacted to Costner‘s post saying, “Love this movie. In the final scene, with Ray playing with his young Dad, I would give EVERYTHING to have this opportunity with My Dad. amazing story. People needs this. We have a too much cruel reality in this world…” and “A wonderful ageless movie. Always loved it, a beautiful story with perfect performances. God bless Ray Liotta.”
We wish Ray’s family the best during this difficult time and we will continue to remember him through the films he left behind.
